HDR ICC Profile

Both use the PQ (Perceptual Quantizer) transfer function. Mode 1 is based on the BT.2100 gamut, Mode 2 uses the wider Rec2020 gamut.

How to Use

1. Choose an HDR ICC profile (Mode 1 by default) or upload a custom .icc file.

2. Upload a PNG / JPEG / WebP image (format is detected from the file header). The HDR image is generated automatically.

3. Compare the preview and download; "_hdr" is appended to the filename. Switching profiles regenerates instantly for easy comparison.

How It Works

Principle

This tool never modifies pixel data. It only embeds an HDR ICC profile with the PQ transfer function at the container byte level. The browser's color management system then interprets pixels along the HDR curve, presenting higher brightness on HDR displays. Supports PNG (iCCP), JPEG (APP2 ICC) and WebP (ICCP, experimental).

Effect Notes

The highlight effect depends on HDR support of both the device and the browser (e.g. iPhone, Mac, HDR monitors). On unsupported devices the image looks unchanged, but the file itself is distributable — anyone who receives it will see HDR highlights on supported devices.
